Men?s Swimming & Diving Goes 2-1 at St. Peter?s Quad Meet

JERSEY CITY, N.J.- The VMI men's swimming and diving team won a pair of dual meets and dropped another while competing in a quad-meet on Saturday hosted by St. Peter's. The Keydets (3-3) won duals against NJIT (91-9) and Manhattan (69-25), yet lost a tight decision to the host Peacocks, 53-47.

VMI was led by senior Will Rowcliffe, whose times in the 50 (22.29) and 100 freestyle (49.26) events both claimed wins against each of the three opponents, as did the finishes for sophomore James Goodwillie in the 200 individual medley (2:00.81) and the 100 backstroke (55.95). The Keydets also got an overall win from sophomore Dallas Disbro in the one-meter diving, while the relay team of Rowcliffe, sophomore Matt Elliott, freshman Chris Dreikorn and senior Tristan Euritt, who swam a 1:29.39 in the 200 freestyle relay, notched wins against St. Peter's and NJIT.

In victories against New Jersey Tech and Manhattan, VMI scored additional wins by freshman Andrew Nelson in the 200 (1:54.17) and the 500 freestyle (5:11.57), sophomore Matt Dale in the 1000 freestyle (10:32.26) and freshman John Covert in the 100 butterfly (57.14). The Keydet relay squad of Goodwillie, senior Justin Ferrell, Euritt and Elliott also took the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:42.81, while Ferrell's 1:04.97 showing in the 100 breaststroke notched a win over NJIT.

VMI returns to the pool next month, competing in the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by Randolph-Macon on Dec. 4-5.
