WASHINGTON, D.C. - The VMI men's swimming & diving team dropped a 223-49 dual to Georgetown at the Albert G. McCarthy, Jr. Swimming Pool on Saturday.
The Keydets were led by senior Will Rowcliffe, who notched the team's only win, swimming the 50 freestyle in 22.26 seconds. Rowcliffe also placed fourth in the 100 freestyle (49.94) and combined with sophomore Matt Elliott, senior Justin Ferrell and freshman Hank Purvis for a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:44.74). Rowcliffe also joined with Ferrell, Elliott and senior Tristan Euritt to place third in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:31.05.
Other top performers included sophomore Matt Dale, who placed second in the 1000 freestyle (10:37.68), while freshman John Covert placed third in the 200 butterfly (2:10.06). VMI picked up fourth-place finishes from Covert in the 100 butterfly (56.90), sophomore Matt Dale in the 200 backstroke (2:04.93) and freshman Marcus Sutter in the 200 breaststroke (2:40.14).
On the diving side, sophomore Dallas Disbro placed second in the one-meter with a 102.20 score.
The men's swimming & diving team returns to action this Saturday, as Pfeiffer comes to the Clark King Hall Pool for a dual set to begin at 2 p.m.
