LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Men's Soccer has unveiled its full 2026 schedule, featuring 10 regular-season home matches, one home scrimmage, and a six-game Southern Conference slate.
In 2025, VMI went 3-12-3 overall and had a 1-4 league record. The five results against NCAA Division I opponents are the most in 13 years. The Keydets earned their first SoCon win since 2002, breaking an 87-match skid, and their first conference victory since 2013, dating back to the Big South era.
The Keydets begin the campaign with a pair of exhibition matchups against Virginia (August 8) in Charlottesville and at home against George Washington (August 13).
The regular season kicks off on Thursday, August 20, when VMI travels to Elon for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Opening weekend concludes with the home opener against Regent (August 22).
VMI's non-conference home slate will continue with Presbyterian (August 24), Randolph (August 26), Winthrop (September 5), Warren Wilson (September 9), UNC Asheville (September 12), and Eastern Mennonite (September 30). Road non-conference opponents will include Saint Peter's (August 29), Central Connecticut State (August 31), Howard (September 19), and Radford (September 23).
The 2026 SoCon schedule begins at East Tennessee State (September 27). Other road league matches feature last season's NCAA DI Final Four team, Furman (October 10), and the newly inducted SoCon affiliate member, Liberty (October 30). VMI will host Wofford (October 3), UNC Greensboro (October 17), and Mercer (October 24) at Patchin Field.
Dates for the SoCon Tournament will be released at a later date.
