19 Keydets named to SoCon Spring Academic All-Conference Team

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A total of 19 VMI cadet-athletes from Southern Conference-sponsored spring sports were named to its annual Spring Academic All-Conference Team, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.
 
To qualify for the team, a student-athlete must have completed at least three semesters at the school (only sophomores and up eligible) and own a minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA following the Spring 2026 semester while being a member of the final squad list during the traditional season.

Additionally, the student-athlete must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests in the most recently concluded season.
 
For the sport of baseball, pitchers who do not meet this requirement must be regular contributors.
 
Three VMI wrestlers, one baseball player, five rifle shooters and 10 track and field athletes were recognized on the squad.
 
Indoor and outdoor track are considered two separate seasons since the same athletes might hit the 50 percent participation requirement for one but not the other.
 
The VMI lacrosse team was not eligible to be recognized since it competes in the Northeast Conference.
