VMI trio takes home NEC weekly honors

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – After outstanding performances to lift VMI to a 19-13 victory over Mercyhurst Saturday, the VMI trio of Jack Duncan-Bloom, Ethan Ostrowski and Beau Durkin received Northeast Conference weekly honors as announced by the league Monday.
 
Duncan-Bloom was named the NEC Player of the Week, Ostrowski received Rookie of the Week honors and Durkin was recognized as a Prime Performer. Duncan-Bloom and Ostrowski were also named Prime Performers by way of their aforementioned specialty honors.
 
Duncan-Bloom scored a career-high six goals in the win to help VMI to its first league win of the year. The Portland, Oregon, native also had one assist for a total of seven points for the day. He connected on six of his seven shot attempts on the afternoon in addition to picking up a groundball. His seven points in a single conference game is tied for third in program history and his six goals in a single league game is tied for second-most in program history.
 
Ostrowski was named Rookie of the Week after playing a huge role in the win with four goals on the day. The Annapolis, Maryland, native also had two assists for a combined six points during the contest. He tallied nine shot attempts, including seven on frame.
 
Durkin had a monstrous day as he combined for a career-high eight points on three goals and five assists. The Castle Rock, Colorado, native totaled six shots, including four on frame, and logged one groundball to go with one caused turnover. His eight points on the day tied for the most in program history for a single conference game, and the five assists is tied for second-most in program history for a single league contest.
 
After two straight road games during Spring Furlough, the Keydets return to Drill Field 2 this Saturday to take on league foe Cleveland State at noon.
