Rogers named an NEC Prime Performer

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – After a great outing at the Faceoff X, VMI senior Jack Rogers was named a Northeast Conference Prime Performer for his efforts against Mercer in Saturday's home opener at Drill Field 2.

The Suwanee, Georgia, native won 21 of 32 faceoffs (.656) in VMI's hard-fought 16-12 loss to the Bears. With the team down 11-6 at halftime, his timely wins at faceoff opportunities provided the Keydets important possessions as they pulled within three goals down 14-11 midway through the fourth period.

Rogers picked up 12 groundballs and scored a goal in the final minute of the game as he totaled three shot attempts during the contest.

The Keydets face a quick turnaround as they head to Annapolis, Maryland, for a Tuesday night tilt at the Naval Academy. Faceoff is set for a 6 p.m. start at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
