The contest is also designated as the team's annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game so fans are encouraged to wear a pink ribbon or to wear something pink to support those who have or are currently battling breast cancer.

VMI (0-5, 0-1) looks to pick up its first win of the season after falling at Samford last weekend to begin conference play.

About the Bears (3-2, 0-1)
Mercer comes into the game ranked No. 21 nationally coming off a big 34-17 win at Abilene Christian this past weekend on the road to close non-conference play. Mercer opened the season with win over East Texas A&M and Presbyterian before consecutive losses to Furman and Georgia Tech.

Quarterback Jaylen King enters the game completing 60 percent of his passes for the year (50-83) for 641 yards averaging over 160 passing yards per outing to go with five passing TDs.

The Bears feature a pair of running backs with both over 300 rushing yards through five games including Devon Caldwell (336) and Zahmari Palode-Gary (299).  Brayden Smith is the leading receiver with 410 receiving yards for the year averaging 82.0 per game and 15.2 yards each catch.

All-Time Series (3-9)
VMI will seek its fourth all-time win over the Bears Saturday and snap a current four-game losing streak to Mercer. The Keydets last defeated the Bears on October 16, 2021, a dominant 45-7 victory in Macon. Earlier that calendar year during the CoVid Spring 2021 season, VMI topped Mercer with a 41-14 victory at home.
