Silas named to Silver Waves Media Mid Major Coaches watch list

LEXINGTON, Va. – For a second straight season, VMI Associate Head Basketball Coach and Offensive Coordinator Xavier Silas has been named to the Silver Waves Media Mid-Major Coaches and GMs to Watch list of assistant coaches most likely to land Division I head coaching positions in the future.
 
The Silver Waves Media list has become the industry standard for excellence, and calendar year 2026 marks the seventh consecutive year the organization has put out the listing which features some of the most outstanding and impactful assistants and GMs in Division I Men's basketball.
 
Silas played an instrumental role in helping coach VMI to 15 wins a year ago as the team looks to hit the benchmark again this 2025-26 campaign.
 
After the committee consulted with a panel of industry professionals, here are their 2026 selections:
