Keydets fall to UNC Asheville

LEXINGTON, Va. – Returning to Patchin Field for the first time in 2025, the VMI women's soccer team fell by a 2-0 score to visiting UNC Asheville Sunday afternoon in Lexington.

The Keydets (0-4-1) came close to scoring in the second half but could not get the ball past the Bulldog keeper as UNC Asheville (3-1-1) escaped with the road victory.

Game Summary
The Bulldogs scored just a few minutes into the match when Campbell Stoll sailed a free kick into the VMI box where Lilly Graumann awaited and snuck it past VMI's Maren Ryberg for a quick 1-0 lead at the 2:00 minute mark.

VMI and Asheville exchanged shots for the rest of the game until the Bulldogs capitalized on a scoring opportunity late in the match when Stoll found Lili Adams wide open at the top of the VMI box and crossed the ball to her. Adams forwarded the ball two steps and shot it into the upper left corner of the VMI net for a 2-0 Bulldog lead with under 15 minutes to play.
