Young Keydets score six goals against Owls

LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Men's Soccer had four freshmen score goals in a 6-0 shutout victory over Warren Wilson Tuesday afternoon at Drill Field #2.
 
The Keydets (1-1-1) snag their first win of 2025 after a dominating win over the Owls, where young talent arose. With the win, VMI snaps a four-game home skid and earns its first clean sheet of the season.

- VMI sprayed 23 shots with 10 on target.
- The Keydets had 11 corner kicks.
- Jack Yough and Rowen Choi tallied two goals apiece.
- Thimson Duolo scored his first goal of the season off a penalty kick.
- Ben Mullins recorded his first collegiate goal.

- Sam Dowdy dished out a pair of assists, with Duolo, Choi, Andres Fuentes-Ramos, and Yeirin Mejia earning one each.

Scoring Summary
- Off a corner kick play, VMI earned its first goal off a header from Yough (26:03), who played a beautiful pass from Fuentes-Ramos and Choi.
- Within 25 seconds of the first goal, the Keydets went up 2-0 after an attempted shot from Mejia landed right in the chest of Choi and rolled easily into the net (26:28).
- After Choi was fouled inside the box, it was only necessary for him to score his second goal off a penalty kick (28:35), putting the Keydets up 3-0 at halftime.
- At 58:38, Dowdy and Duolo set up Mullins inside the box for a left-footed shot between the posts, extending the lead to 4-0.
- In the same minute, Duolo drew a foul inside the box that resulted in a penalty kick goal for the forward (58:56).
- The final goal of the evening was Yough's second, playing off a free kick from Dowdy.

The Keydets face Big South foe, Presbyterian, on the road on Sunday at 4 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
