The Keydets (8-2, 2-1) are off to their best start since the 1995 season with eight wins already on the year, VMI's fifth consecutive season of increasing its prior season's win total.

VMI is ranked second in the NCAA in scoring offense with 15.90 goals per game and first nationally in clearing percentage at .932 having failed only 15 clear attempts all season (205 out of 220). The Keydets also have the 12th best scoring defense in the country allowing only 8.60 goals per game.

Senior Luke Rusterucci needs just one more assist to become the first Keydet in program history to reach the century mark in both goals and assists as he presently has 99 assists for his career. He ranks fourth in the NCAA in goals per game at 3.50 and fourth in points per game at 5.70 averaging over two assists per game. Sophomore Dayton Bagwell is right behind in fifth place in the NCAA in scoring at 3.40 goals per game.

Defensively, senior Damian Levin is one of the best in the business of goalkeeping ranking eighth in the NCAA in saves per game at 13.80 and has the 13th best goals-against average in the nation at 8.83. His save percentage of .624 also ranks fourth best in the country.

About Detroit Mercy (1-6, 0-3)
The Titans have played seven games on the season and came out victorious in one of them, an 11-5 triumph on the road at Hampton back on March 7. Detroit opened the season with two losses against difficult opponents #19 Ohio State and then at Marquette a few days later.  In recent weeks, the Titans have come up short against Robert Morris, LIU and most recently to Le Moyne, a close 8-5 loss at home.

Chase Mahabir leads the team with 12 points on seven goals and five assists while Marcus Thundercloud leads the team with eight goals. Aidan Bishop and Harold Skinner each have five goals on the season and Andrew Parker and Zach Gleason are close behind with four apiece.

Kyle Grant is the lead defender with 14 caused turnovers on the year. Ryan Richters has played all but 10 minutes in the cage in 2025 and has allowed 87 goals for a 12.78 goals-against average.  He has tallied 94 saves thus far and owns a .519 save percentage.

Tailgating Information
There are two parking lots between the baseball stadium and the lacrosse field on North Post. The one on the left nearest the Paulette Hall locker rooms is designated as the VMI tailgating area after the game. The lot on the right nearest the large retaining wall is the designated tailgating area for the visiting team. Cars must be parked in designated parking stalls – ticketing will be enforced by VMI Police. Another option is to use the pavilion at nearby Jordan's Point Park which can be reserved through the City of Lexington.
