LEXINGTON, Va. – Darian Tweedell claimed the Virginia State Junior Olympic Small Bore Rifle Championship in 2025, earning an auto bid for the Junior Olympic Rifle National Championship at Anniston, Alabama in April.

Tweedell qualified back in December, when VMI hosted a Virginia State Junior Olympic Qualifier at Kilbourne Hall, claiming gold in the smallbore. During the same event, Kyle Kemp also earned a first round invite to the Junior Olympic Championship.

A sophomore, Tweedell led the VMI Women's Team air rifle and aggregate average. Tweedell's smallbore average of 558.8 was second on the team, but featured two outings of over 570, with a career-best 577 on November 2 and a 571 on January 18.
