Men’s T&F Shines at VMI Winter Classic

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI men's track and field team earned excellent marks Saturday at the 2025 VMI Winter Classic hosted by VMI at the Corps Physical Training Facility.

The event also marked Senior Day as VMI's 2025 senior class was recognized following the national anthem.

Senior Keyandre Midgett placed first in the triple jump at 14.99 meters, while Benjamin Hagerich came in first in the 800 meter in 1:55.65.

Sophomore Kevin Shank won the mile run with a time of 4:20.46, while teammate Colin Crenshaw placed 10^th in 4:36.51.

Highlights from VMI Winter Classic
*Freshman Jackson Geisendaffer came in second in the 3000m in 9:04.96, while seniors Brian Tavenner (6th, 9:17.04) and Patrick Kiernan (9th, 9:19.71) also had solid finishes
*Elisha Williams placed fourth in the shot put at 14.24 meters and senior Hunter Davis came in sixth at 13.96m
*Newcomer Destin Moore finished fifth in the 60m prelims in 6.98 and fourth in the finals in 6.93 seconds. Kevin Koumondji arrived in seventh in the prelims in 7.00 and sixth in the finals in 6.99 seconds
*Tyrus James placed fifth in the pole vault at 3.85 meters
*In the high jump, freshman Grant Fraser placed ninth overall at 1.74 meter

The Keydets travel to nearby Lynchburg, Virginia, to compete at the Darius Dixon Memorial Meet hosted by Liberty University next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14-15
