LEXINGTON, Va. – Members of the VMI Rifle program completed action in the USA Shooting Winter Air Gun Championships this past weekend, representing the Keydets on the national stage at Camp Perry.
Lauren Canaday,
Kyle Kemp,
Zachary Mauriello,
Alexander Pohlman,
Soraya Sar, and
Wuyue Xie shot both Saturday and Sunday.
Pohlman was the top shooter overall for VMI, totaling a 1227.0 to finish an impressive 27
th individually out of a field of 91 men.
Kyle Kemp was just behind with a 1221.4 to finish 36
th and
Zachary Mauriello totaled a 1205.5 to place 50
th.

On the women's side, Xie led the way with a 122.4, placing 66
th in a field of 131 female competitors.
Soraya Sar totaled a 1199.3 (94
th) and
Laura Canaday finished 100
th with a 1191.9.

The top scores by Pohlman and Xie, respectively, were higher than what VMI shooters posted two years ago in this same competition, a reflection of their focus throughout the two-day event.
