VMI heads to Orlando to face UCF

ORLANDO, Fla. – After falling in both games at the Fort Myers Tip-Off, the VMI basketball team heads up to Orlando to face its second power conference opponent of the season in UCF Saturday afternoon.
 
The Keydets and Knights will tip off at 1 p.m. at Addition Financial Arena in Orlando to conclude VMI's four-game road swing in the Sunshine State.

VMI (3-6) fell to MAC opponents Buffalo and Bowling Green in its first ever trip to the Fort Myers Tip-Off in the first ever matchup with both schools.
 
All-Time Series vs. UCF (0-1)
The Keydets and Knights last battled in 1978 when the Knights took a 108-91 win over VMI on December 28, 1978, the first and only matchup between the programs.
 
About the Knights (6-1)
After opening the season with a close 82-78 win over Hofstra, UCF took its only loss of the young season thus far in a competitive 105-93 loss to SEC foe Vanderbilt. The Knights made national waves two weeks ago when they defeated Texas A&M in College Station by double digits, 86-74, then last week defeated Pitt by a 77-67 count at the Legends Classic in Daytona Beach. UCF is coming off its most recent win Tuesday night when the Knights took down Quinnipiac by a 102-91 score at home.
 
Four Knights average double figures in scoring including Riley Kugel at 17.7 ppg, Jordan Burks (12.7), Jamichael Stillwell (10.6) and Themas Fulks (10.0). Stillwell leads the team in both rebounds (8.1) and steals (8) while Burks leads the squad in blocks with five thus far.
