Keydets fall to Wofford in SoCon battle

LEXINGTON, Va. – Playing under the lights of Drill Field 2, the VMI women's soccer team fell by a 2-0 score to visiting Wofford Thursday night for the team's annual Breast Cancer Awareness night.
 
With the loss, VMI falls to 1-14-1, 0-7-0 while the Terriers improve to 4-8-5, 1-4-2 after picking up their first conference win of the season.
 
The two teams had nearly equivalent shot attempts – 10 for Wofford to VMI's nine – but the Terriers capitalized on two of the opportunities to leave North Post with a conference victory.
 
Scoring Summary
*On a free kick opportunity in the 17th minute (16:37), Wofford's Ellie Gower placed the ball deep into the VMI box where teammate Julia Grier headed it into the net for what proved to be the game-winning goal
*In the 20th minute, Gower and teammate Kaliegh Gonzales crossed the ball to Ines Obradovac who shot it into the lower left corner for an insurance goal for the Terriers
