JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Looking to pick up its first Southern Conference victory of the season, the VMI football team fell by a 45-10 score to host ETSU Saturday afternoon at William B. Greene, Jr. Stadium in Johnson City, Tennessee.

First Half
- The Bucs (3-4, 1-2) got off to a quick start by forcing a three-and-out for the Keydets (1-5, 0-2), then returned the ensuing punt 80 yards for a touchdown to put ETSU up by a score at the 13:23 mark of the opening quarter.
- ETSU would go on to score 17 unanswered points before the half to go into the break with a dominant 24-0 lead.

Second Half
-The Bucs returned in the third quarter with continued momentum by scoring on its opening drive capped by a 12-yard pass from Jake McNamara to Ephraim Floyd to increase the lead to 31-0 early in the second half
- On the next ETSU possession, VMI cornerback Robert Powell picked off McNamara deep in ETSU territory and returned it 10 yards for a pick-six on his first career interception at VMI
-Unwilling to allow a VMI comeback, the Bucs drove down the field on its ensuing possession and capped it off with a one-yard TD dive by  Jason Albritton to make the score 38-7 in favor of the Bucs
