Track and Field kicks off 2025 indoor season Saturday

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI track and field teams kick off the 2025 indoor season this Saturday hosting the VMI Team Challenge at the Corps Physical Training Facility.

The one-day event will feature eight schools participating and over 200 student-athletes competing in both the men's and women's events.

The throwing and jump events kick off the meet at 10:30 a.m. with the track events beginning at noon right after the national anthem. A link to the full schedule of events is found below.

The Keydets are coming off a strong 2024 season for both the indoor and outdoor seasons as VMI fared well in Southern Conference competition. The VMI men placed fourth at last year's SoCon Indoor Championships and second at the SoCon Outdoor Championships while the VMI women placed sixth at both the indoor and outdoor SoCon meets.

Senior jumper Keyandre Midgett returns for VMI having won the SoCon's Male Most Outstanding Field Performer the past two indoor seasons while sophomore thrower Rafe Clendenin was named last year's SoCon Freshman of the Year.

On the women's side, Eleyah Armstrong qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships East Preliminaries in the 100 meter to represent the VMI program on a national scale.

A number of All-Conference performers return for VMI on both the men's and women's teams as the 2025 season gets underway this weekend.
