LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Men's Soccer has announced its opponents for the 2024 season.
The Keydets are coming off a 2023 campaign where VMI saw five wins, the most for the program in 17 years. This included the first NCAA Division I win in nine years and the first D-I road victory in 10 years. In the spring, the Keydets traveled to the United Kingdom to battle a trio of clubs including Tottenham Hotspur Academy, picking up a pair of victories in the process.
VMI begins the 2024 season with an exhibition duel against Virginia Commonwealth on August 10 in Richmond, Virginia. After VCU, the Keydets will begin the regular season at home against Emory & Henry (August 22), Warren Wilson (August 26), and Robert Morris (August 29).
September will begin with a season-high four-straight road matches including UNC Asheville (September 1), Canisius (September 6), Niagara (September 8), and Presbyterian (September 12). Closing out the month will be a pair of home matchups against Howard (September 14) and Mary Baldwin (September 21).
After taking on Radford on the road (October 1), the Keydets open Southern Conference play at East Tennessee State (October 6). VMI will have another road league matchup with Furman (October 19). The rest of the conference schedule will be at Patchin Field including matches versus Mercer (October 12), UNC Greensboro (October 26), and Wofford (November 2). During the SoCon slate, the Keydets welcome Queens (N.C.) to the pitch (October 29).
