Stamos, McDonald invited to USILA Senior All-Star Game

LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI lacrosse seniors Luke McDonald and AJ Stamos have been invited to play in the 2024 USILA Senior All-Star Game following stellar performances during their final year at the Institute.

The Division I and II game will take place this Friday, May 24, at 6 p.m. at Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania.

A native of Alexandria, Virginia, AJ Stamos played in 55 games at VMI as a midfielder and started every game for the past three years. As a Keydet, Stamos logged 40 goals to go with 50 assists for 90 points, joining the 50-Assist Club on Senior Day against Marist on April 20. As a senior, he was named a finalist for VMI's Three-Legged Stool Award given to the Institute's top all-around cadet-athlete.

An economics and business major, Stamos was active on post and served as a member of the ODE Economic Honor Society. Before graduation last week, he commissioned into the United States Navy as a surface warfare officer and will be stationed in San Diego, California.

Luke McDonald played in 50 games over his VMI career, including 24 starts as a defender. He caused more than 40 turnovers for opponents throughout his career and picked up over 100 career groundballs.

During his time on post, McDonald served as a cadre corporal during his third class year, a second platoon sergeant as a second classman and a private as a first classman.

A native of Apex, North Carolina, Luke graduated last week with a degree in international studies and a minor in French, after which he will serve as a staffer for a politician while applying to Ph.D. programs for American government.

Sacred Heart Head Coach and MAAC Coach of the Year Jon Basti will coach the North team and Detroit Mercy Head Coach Chris Kolon will coach the South team.
