Keydets earn solid performances at Liberty qualifier

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The VMI women's track and field team earned several solid performances Wednesday at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier hosted by Liberty University at the Matthes-Hopkins Track Complex in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Freshman Anijah James highlighted the day for the Keydets with a seventh-place long jump of 5.13 meters, or 16' 9.75."

Hayden Talbott finished 11th in the 800 meter with a time of 2:30.26, and Melanie Jimenez placed 11th in the javelin throw at 22.74 meters, or 74' 7.25."

Isabella Cabales also competed in the javelin and placed 12th with a distance of 19.8 meters, or 64' 11.5."

Caroline Fiorillo rounded out the competition for VMI arriving in 20th place in the 1500 meter run in 5:52.59.

The Keydets head south to the 2024 Southern Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by Samford Monday and Tuesday, May 6-7, in Birmingham, Alabama.
