VMI off to great start at Virginia Challenge

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The VMI women's track and field team got off to a great start to the Virginia Challenge hosted by the University of Virginia Friday at Lannigan Field in Charlottesville, Virginia.
 
Day 1 Results
 
Sophomore pole vaulter Taylor Hill came in sixth place against strong Division I talent as she reached a height of 3.44 meters.
 
Junior Eleyah Armstrong performed well in the 100 meter dash with a 10th-place time of 11.94 seconds, just missing out by a few spots to qualify for the final round Saturday.
 
VMI Men's Track and Field Friday Results
*Freshman pole vaulter Cameron Thomas continues to shine for the men's team as he came in seventh place in the event with a height of 4.70 meters
*Senior Keyandre Midgett placed eighth in the triple jump with a personal-best distance of 14.88 meters (48' 10")
*In the men's 400 meter, Nick Brown came in 12th place in 48.39 seconds and Richard Edwards was close behind in 49.07 seconds for 22nd place
*Freshman Rafe Clendenin finished 19th overall in the discus throw at 44.82 meters
*Kevin Shank and Patrick Lowry competed in the final event of the day – the 5K – with Shank placing 17th overall with a personal-best time of 14:41.25.Lowry came in 27th overall in 15:26.05.
