Track and Field teams to compete at JMU Saturday

LEXINGTON, Va. – Following a successful meet last weekend up in Fairfax, the VMI track and field teams will remain instate this weekend as the Keydets are set to compete at the JMU Invitational hosted by James Madison University Saturday in Harrisonburg.

The Keydets competed last weekend at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational hosted by George Mason and came away with new school records and personal-best marks to conclude the meet with success.
 
Freshman Cameron Thomas broke his own school record in the men's pole vault with a height of 16' 7.25", topping the former best mark of 16' 6.25" set two weeks prior at the Richmond meet.
 
Eleyah Armstrong broke her own school record in the outdoor long jump with a distance of 19' 8.5," beating her former best mark of 19' 7.5" set during the 2023 outdoor season.
 
Taylor Hill placed second in the  women's pole vault with a height of 3.56 meters, while the 4x100 relay team of Jennifer Koumondji, SeMore Green, Heaven Hall and Eleyah Armstrong placed third overall with a time of 48.64 seconds.
 
On the men's side, Senior Liam McBride won the 110-meter hurdles with a new personal-record time of 14.22 seconds for the top finish in the race.
 
In the 400 meter dash, senior Nick Brown arrived in fifth place in 49.18 seconds, and teammate Xander Topos finished in 12th in 49.81 seconds.
