Keydets off to strong start to outdoor season

RICHMOND, Va. – Marked by several top-three finishes, the VMI women's track and field team got off to a strong start to the outdoor season Friday at the Fred Hardy Invitational hosted by the University of Richmond at Robins Stadium in Richmond, Virginia.

Top Finishes
*Jenna Kirkland came in second place in the discus throw with a personal record distance of 39.19 meters and was followed by Diamond Baker in fourth place at 33.07 meters
*Sophomore Taylor Hill placed third in the pole vault with a height of 3.65 meters
*In the shot put, Baker finished fourth at 11.64 meters and was followed by Kayla Osbourne in sixth at 10.64 meters

Excellent Marks
*Shea Hart placed fifth in the 100m hurdles in a personal record time of 14.95 seconds
*Julie Freitas arrived in fifth in the triple jump at 11.16 meters
*Kirkland finished sixth in the hammer with a personal record distance of 40.70 meters
*Alina LaForest placed seventh in the 400m hurdles in 1:08.24
*In the javelin, Isabelle Cabales came in eighth at 20.66 meters
*SeMore Green finished 10th in the 200 meter in 25.69 seconds

The Keydets will compete at the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State next weekend, March 28-30, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
