Lacrosse to play neutral game with Detroit Mercy

LEXINGTON, Va. – Looking to keep its momentum after going 2-0 last week, the VMI lacrosse team will play a neutral site game with Detroit Mercy Saturday at noon at Liberty Olentangy High School in Columbus, Ohio.

VMI (3-2) went 2-0 last week with dominant wins over Hampton (25-6) and St. Bonaventure (17-9) to move to three wins on the young season. Charles Hunt led the team with a combined 13 goals between the two games and was named to the USILA National Team of the Week for his efforts. He was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week, while Ty Yonas was named Rookie of the Week and Jack Rogers received Faceoff Player of the Week by the league.
 
About Detroit Mercy (0-1)
The Titans have played just one game this season, a 22-8 setback on the road at traditional power Marquette back on February 13.
 
Detroit is led by Luke Majick, who scored a goal and had two assists to pace the team with three points vs. Marquette. Drew Kessenich and Aidan Bishop both scored two goals in the loss, while Sean Donahue, Nolan Graalman and Kyle Loken had one goal apiece.
 
Goalie Ryan Richters had 11 saves and allowed 22 goals for a .333 save percentage.
