Men’s Track off to good start at VMI Winter Classic

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI men's track and field team is off to a great start after the first day of the 2024 VMI Winter Classic.

Nick Brown earned a personal record in the 60 meter with a time of 7.00 seconds and qualified for the final Saturday.

Liam McBride also achieved a personal-best time in the 60 meter with a 7.07 but just missed on going to the final round.

"This is the final tune-up for the SoCon Championship and gives our team a chance to ensure we will be lining up the right people in the right events.

"Our goal today was to allow recovery from a busy week with our Rats breaking out on Monday and to have a chance to compete one more time before our meet of the year, the Southern Conference Indoor Championship."

Up Next
The men will resume competition Saturday for Day 2 starting at 9 a.m. with the high jump, shot put, triple jump and pole vault. At 10 a.m., several Keydets will run the mile, 400m, 60m, 800m, 200m, the 3000m and the 4x400 relay.
