VMI Director of Track and Field Zack Scott
"The only words that describe Day 1 is that the women's track and field team lined up and they competed.  Eleyah Armstrong - between jump - qualified for the 60m with a prelim leading time 7.49 and then stepped on the track back on to the runway to win the long jump with a 6.05m personal best.

"Jenna Kirkland took second in the shot put with +3 foot lifetime personal best throw and was followed by Diamond Baker's also +3 foot new personal best finishing fourth. Morgan Fraser had  a 7th -place finish with a four-person tie and a new personal best of 1.61m. Shea Hart, after a long season of injuries, finished the Pentathlon in eighth place and our women's DMR team finished with a fourth-place personal best relay time."

"We are not done with our team. We are a half point from fourth place. We have women in the finals and still some time to compete. With the Corps, family and our track and field alums in the stands cheering us on, anything is possible."
