Women’s T&F finishes VMI Winter Classic

LEXINGTON, Va
. – The VMI women's track and field team completed the 2024 VMI Winter Classic with excellent marks Saturday at the Corps Physical Training Facility.
 
With only two weeks to go before hosting the Southern Conference Indoor Championships, several Keydets earned personal-best marks and times to prepare for the big event.
 
Eleyah Armstrong placed third in the 200 meter with a time of 24.75 seconds while SeMore Green came in fourth in the 400 meter in 57.79 seconds. Heaven Hall also had a strong showing in the 400 arriving in sixth in 58.56 seconds.
 
Julie Frietas earned a personal record distance of 10.97 meters in the triple jump, and senior Jenna Kirkland threw a PR distance of 11.69 meters in the shot put.
 
Junior Gretal Shank finished the 800m in eighth place with a time of 2:22.66.

"The women's team is moving in the right direction as we count down two weeks to the SoCon Championships. We had some good performances against a small field of eight teams, making it possible to ensure we put the right people in the events that will allow us to compete to win."
