VMI Rifle battles but drops contest to No. 2 Georgia Southern

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI Rifle team hosted second-ranked Georgia Southern on Saturday, putting up a strong fight before falling to the Eagles.

Despite a season-high aggregate of 4591, the VMI Mixed Team placed second behind the winning Georgia Southern squad that totaled 4733. The Women's Team had a solid outing, posting an aggregate of 4530.

Individually, Darian Tweedell and Christopher Hicks would both set personal bests in the air rifle, with Tweedell shooting a 592 and Hicks a 591. Hicks had the highest individual finish for VMI, totaling 1161 to place seventh with Ryan Harlow (1151) and Adrianna Sanders (1144) placing 9-10.

What's Next

This wraps up fall competition for VMI, as they will open the spring season on January 18 against Morehead State.
