VMI Cross Country finishes season strong at NCAA Regional

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The VMI cross country teams competed with heart and desire at the 2024 NCAA Southeast Regional as the season came to an end at Winthrop Farm in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Racing in challenging and muddy conditions, the VMI men's and women's teams finished strong in a field of 41 schools to showcase grit and determination.

The VMI men placed 26th overall in the field led by sophomore Kevin Shank's 10K time of 32:14. Following him were Patrick Lowry, Patrick Kiernan, Jackson Geisendaffer, Collin Crenshaw, and Ben Hagerich, who all ran strong, pushing through tough conditions to contribute to the team's overall effort.

On the women's side, VMI finished 33rd overall led by Jillian Sisk, who completed the 6K in 23:17. She was followed by Gretal Shank, Reagan Gilman, Samantha Layton, and Natalia Dias, all of whom battled through the mud to secure solid finishes and show true team strength.

Despite the challenging conditions, both teams demonstrated resilience and commitment. Their performance in the regional championship highlights their continued growth and determination as they look ahead to the future.
