Personal records fall to open VMI Invitational

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI women's team had several individuals earn personal record times and distances to open the 2024 VMI Invitational Friday at the Corps Physical Training Facility.

Sophomore pole vaulter Taylor Hill highlighted the day for VMI by achieving a second-place height of 3.56m in the event to match a personal record.

The women's 4x800 relay team consisting of Alina Laforest, Gretal Shank, Evelyn Anderson and Olivia Hurd came in third place with a time of 9:47.80.

"The University of Richmond women's 4 x 800m team broke a five-year record set by UVA as an example of what is yet to come Saturday.

"Our women's team fought through a tough first day with some highlights and promise of a better day Saturday. Taylor Hill matched her indoor PR with a second-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 3.56m and sixth-place PR in the high jump clearing 1.52m. SeMore Green ran a PR in the 300m finishing third as well as qualifying for the finals in the 60m sprint."

Top Performances
*In the 300m, sophomore SeMore Green ran a third-place personal record time of 41.67 seconds. She was pursued closely by teammate Heaven Hall, who placed fourth in 41.79 seconds
*Green came in sixth in the 60m prelims with a time of 7.87 seconds to qualify for the semifinals later in the day. She again ran a 7.87 in the semis to advance to Saturday's final
*Hill earned another PR in the high jump by placing sixth with a height of 1.52m. Teammate Morgan Fraser achieved the same height to tie for sixth at 1.52m
