VMI Women take second at VMI Team Challenge

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI women's track team resumed the indoor season with exceptional performances Saturday at the VMI Team Challenge held at the Corps Physical Training Facility.

The Keydets placed second overall out of 13 schools competing on the women's side, finishing with 104.5 points just behind SoCon foe ETSU's 114. Marshall came in third with 75 team points followed by Washington & Lee with 58.

Team captain Eleyah Armstrong set the tone by winning and breaking her own school long jump record with a leap of 5.92m (19'5"), breaking her former school record distance of 19'2.75" set last winter.

VMI Director of Track and Field Zack Scott
"The women's track and field team decided they would do their best to compete and they succeeded.  Starting with the first event on the track, Jillian Sisk stepped on the track and won the 5k with a time of 18:10.2.

"Our success continued to the last event for the night as the 4x400m (SeMore Green, Heaven Hall, Olivia Hurd and anchor Alina LaForest) had a strong first-place finish in 4:03.38. We had an exceptional performance from the entire team thanks to the training program designed by Coach Eddie Williams and Coach Caleb Wisecarver."
