VMI Rifle’s opener in the books

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI Rifle Team had its first competition of the 2023-24 season on Saturday, visiting No. 9 Navy and No. 1 TCU in Annapolis.

TCU took first place, posting an aggregate score of 4,738 with Navy totaling 4,702 and VMI's Mixed squad firing a 4,509.

Individually, Ryan Harlow was VMI's top scorer with a 569 in the smallbore and a 583 (1,152) in the air rifle. On the women's side, Victoria Phillips posted a 569 (smallbore) and a 573 (air rifle) to finish with a 1,142 as the women's squad totaled a 4,360. Laini Morgan also had a notable day, firing a personal best 590 in the air rifle.

Christopher Hicks had a solid outing, with a 563 in the smallbore and a 577 to finish with an aggregate of 1,140. Michael Annesi tied for 21st in the air rifle with a 571.
