Keydets drop 2-0 home contest to Liberty

LEXINGTON, Va. - Facing a Liberty squad receiving Top 25 votes, the VMI women's soccer team battled hard but ultimately fell by a 2-0 score at home to the visiting Flames on a wet Sunday afternoon at Drill Field #2.

Liberty (9-0) scored its first goal midway through the opening half (28:39) when Chloe Marr slipped behind the Keydet defense after a pass from Allison Hansford and stuck the ball past VMI keeper Jillian Hall for the game-winning goal.
 
The Flames would tack on an insurance goal early in the second half (48:07) when Rachel DeRuby took an assist from Hansford and put it into the VMI net for the 2-0 final tally.

*The Flames came out strong in the first half attacking the VMI, outshooting the Keydets by a 12-1 margin. Liberty would finish with 19 shot attempts to VMI's six for the day
*VMI's Jillian Hall finished with six saves during the match while Liberty's Ainsley Leja ended up with four saves in a complete game
*Lauren Fyfe and Barrett Callejo led VMI with two shots apiece, while Morgan Anderson and Emily Ward each had one. Both the shots for Fyfe and Callejo were on frame to account for Leja's four saves during the contest
