LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Football wrapped up its spring season this past weekend, making great strides under new coach Danny Rocco.

Rocco, who was hired in December to take over the program, feels good about the team's progress since he stepped foot on post.

"All things considered, I think we are right where we need to be…I feel like this football team is a different team today than the team I saw in December. I think they are more positive, optimistic and hopeful. They are at a good place heading into the summer months."

Rocco and his coaching staff believe the group is committed to making improvements over the summer as they look forward to reporting for fall camp.

"Our players are anxious and interested. I think they've taken to heart to try and focus on those areas (of improvement)…It's a good group of young men, and I'm honored to be their head football coach."

The Keydets will kick off Rocco's inaugural season on September 2, hosting Davidson.
