VMI Tracksters Head to CNU New Captains Classic

LEXINGTON, Va. – After an excellent showing last week at the VertKlasse Meeting hosted by High Point, the VMI track and field teams look for continued improvement this Friday and Saturday as they head to the New Captains Classic hosted by Christopher Newport University at TowneBank Stadium in Newport News, Virginia.

Friday's action begins at 4 p.m. with the men's hammer and women's javelin as well as the start of the decathlon. Saturday opens at 11 a.m. Along with the decathlon and heptathlon, 19 different disciplines will be featured during the two-day meet.
 
Multi-event athletes Kevin Linko and Isaiah Blount will see their first outdoor action of the season as the duo will compete in the decathlon.
 
The entire women's team is also slated to compete at the meet.
 
Last weekend at High Point, freshman Heaven Hall placed ninth overall in the 400 meter with a time of 59.36 seconds. In the hammer throw, junior Alexis Rocker earned a personal-best distance of 42.21 meters.
