Track Teams off to App State Open

LEXINGTON, Va. – After two consecutive weeks of personal records falling, the VMI track and field teams look to continue to improve this weekend at the App State Open hosted by Appalachian State University from April 28-29 in Boone, North Carolina.
 
The meet will be the first held at the Randy Marion Track and Field Facility, which will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday at 4 p.m. to start the competition.

This will also serve as the final meet in preparation for the Southern Conference Outdoor Championships which are slated for Monday and Tuesday, May 8-9. at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina.

"This is our last tune up heading to Boone, NC competing at App State's new Randy Marion Track and Field facility. There is a good mix of teams and talent in every event to give us a good luck at what we can do and who will earn the right to compete for us at the Southern Conference Championship. Teams such as Liberty, Winthrop and App State have always put up a great fight when we line up against them. There will be also a great host of other teams, clubs and unattached athletes that promise to challenge our VMI Keydets."
