Keydets Travel to St. Bonaventure Saturday

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI lacrosse team travels to take on St. Bonaventure University in a Saturday afternoon battle at noon at Marra Athletics Complex in St. Bonaventure, New York.

VMI (3-1) is coming off a resounding 20-10 victory over in-state foe Hampton University this past Tuesday at Drill Field #2. The three wins in February marks the first time in program history that VMI has tallied three wins during the month. For the first time since 2012, VMI has played four consecutive games scoring in double digits.
 
Tied 2-2 midway through the first periods, VMI started to pull away in the latter segment of the quarter by scoring four more goals while allowing just one to take a 6-3 lead going into the second quarter. The Pirates (0-2) struggled to keep pace with the Keydets as VMI logged five goals in both the second and third periods and added four more in the final stanza en route to the dominant finish.
 
About the Bonnies (0-3)
St. Bonaventure has come up on the short end of its three opening games, falling to Bellarmine by a 14-10 score in the season opener before losing to Binghamton in a heartbreaker, 12-11, in overtime. The Bonnies most recently fell this past Tuesday at Robert Morris, 15-6, in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.
 
Ready to play at home for the second time this season, the Bonnies are led by Jake Rosa, who has tallied 11 points on eight goals and three assists so far. Sean Westley is close behind with eight points on three goals and five assists as the team's leading distributor. Mark Belles and Kyle Pepper are also offensive leaders with two goals and two helpers apiece thus far.
 
Cristofero Cucciuffo has played the most minutes in the cage (107 minutes) and has an 0-1 record, while Conan Lynch has played 74 minutes and 0-2 personal record.
