Keydets to Face High Point Friday Night

LEXINGTON, Va. – After its 2-0 start to the season, the VMI lacrosse team will look to make it 3-0 as former Southern Conference rival High Point revisits Drill Field No. 2 for a non-conference battle Friday night at 7 p.m. in Lexington.

The Keydets (2-0) are coming off a thrilling 10-9 double overtime victory over Queens University in which senior Scout Ripley scored with two minutes left to walk off VMI to victory last Friday in Charlotte, North Carolina, his sixth goal of the evening. For his performance, Ripley was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week. Freshman goalie Adam Norris was named both the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week after logging 22 saves and preserving the win for VMI.

Ripley leads the team with nine goals on the year while sophomores Luke Mryncza (5) and Luke Rusterucci (3) also lead the category. Rusterucci and Ripley lead the team in points with nine a piece as Rusterucci has a team-high six assists on the year.

About the Panthers (1-1)
High Point enters Friday night's contest with a 1-1 record after falling to #7 Duke by an 8-20 score on Feb. 7 before blasting Detroit Mercy at home, 17-2, this past Saturday.

Jack VanOverbeke leads the team with five goals on the year and team-high 16 shot attempts. Michael Ippolito leads the team in points with six between four goals and two assists. Nick Rizzo and Colin Cooke both have four points on the season as the other offensive leaders for the Panthers.
