LEXINGTON, Va. - Looking to continue its momentum from Sunday's win, the VMI women's soccer team fell by a 2-0 score to visiting Mercer University Thursday afternoon at Drill Field #2 on North Post.

The Bears (8-2-5, 3-1-1) came out strong in the opening half and outshot the Keydets (2-12-0, 1-4-0) by a 14-3 margin, eventually finding the back of the net in the 28th minute (27:22) when Larkin Thomason headed in a ball that ricocheted between Mercer and VMI players for a few moments to give Mercer the game-winning goal.

VMI had several close scoring opportunities in the first half, but went into the half trailing by a 1-0 score.

Mercer and VMI battled evenly in the second half with both squads accounting for seven shot attempts, but VMI was unable to capitalize.
