Keydets Finish VMI Winter Classic with Strong Performances

LEXINGTON, Va. – Highlighted by sophomore Eleyah Armstrong's long jump performance in which she tied a school record, the VMI track and field teams earned excellent marks to conclude the VMI Winter Classic Saturday at the Corps Physical Training Facility.

The Hampton, Virginia, native earned a long jump distance of 5.83 meters to tie Bria Anderson's mark from 2016.

Liam McBride qualified for the 60-meter hurdles finals and earned a fourth-place time of 8.37 seconds.

Keyandre Midgett placed second overall in the long jump for second place with a distance of 7.13 meters.

Stephen Munson led the pole vaulters with a second-place height of 4.35 meters, and was followed by Brandon Bauman (8th, 3.90m) and Isaiah Blount (9th, 3.90m).

"Keyandre Midgett strikes again, leading our team on the long jump runway with a 7.03m jump to finish second.

"We had quite a few personal bests on the men's team to conclude our third competition of the season. As the Southern Conference performance list begins to show how the championship will line up, our Keydets are filling the top 10 slots to determine how we will line up the last weekend in February."
