ANNAPOLIS, Md. – VMI Rifle opened its 2022-23 season against No. 2 TCU and No. 6 Navy in Annapolis on Saturday in strong fashion, as the mixed team placed third and women fourth. TCU, the 2022 National Champion runner up, set a new NCAA record for total score with an aggregate of 4758.
Christopher Hicks picked up where he left off last season for VMI, setting a new school record in smallbore with a score of 577 and placing 13th in that category. Hicks posted a strong score of 576 in Air Rifle to finish with an aggregate score of 1153.
The Keydets (mixed) posted a score of 2248 in smallbore and 2298 in the Air Rifle to finish just behind Navy's 4665.
Ryan Harlow (576) finished 19th in the individual Air Rifle category, with Cassidy Dufour just behind him with a 575. Michael Annesi (559) and Harlow finished 20-21 in smallbore while Katie Grochalski shot a 573 in Air Rifle.
