LEXINGTON, Va. – Ahead by two goals early in the second half, the VMI women's soccer team earned an eventual 2-2 draw with the host Long Island Sharks Saturday afternoon at LIU Soccer Park in Brooklyn, New York.


Game Summary
  • Junior Madison Hornig scored her first goal of the season midway through the opening half to give VMI an early 1-0 advantage. She was assisted by freshman Katy Layman
  • Freshman Riley Boucher scored for a second consecutive game to give VMI a 2-0 lead at the 56:52 mark of the second half. Senior Anissa Cheikh was credited with the assist on the play
  • Ten minutes later, LIU's Jaylin Counts put the Sharks on the board off an assist by Sarah Borer
  • At the 73:45 mark, LIU's Gina Proviano scored the equalizer off an assist by Counts to knot the score and avoid defeat
