Wisecarver Added to Track and Field Staff

LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Zack Scott announced Tuesday the hiring of Caleb Wisecarver as the program's vertical jumps and multi-event coach.
 
As the jumps coach, he will oversee the pole vault and high jump events for both the men's and women's teams in addition to coaching the multi-event athletes.
 
Wisecarver come to the Institute by way of Webber International University in Babson Park, Florida, where he served as head track and field coach for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
 
In Wisecarver's first season at Webber in 2021, he coached one conference champion (Garrett Palmer) and two other all-conference performers (Lauren Brown, J'nai Taylor) at the inaugural Sun Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship meet, and then had one conference champion (Jade Hines) and four other all-conference performers (Alexandrea Gaetz, Lauren Brown, J'nai Taylor, Garrett Palmer) at the TSC Outdoor Track & Field Championship meet. Five national qualifying marks and three new school records were also set at the outdoor conference championship as Hines broke the Webber school record in the women's long jump, Palmer broke the record in the men's long jump, and Yeltsin Mora did so in the men's 100 meter dash.
 
Wisecarver joined the Warriors after spending the previous three seasons as assistant track & field coach at UNC Pembroke.
 
At UNCP, Wisecarver coached 20 national qualifiers, five Peach Belt Conference Champions, two Mountain East Conference champions, 15 All-PBC outdoor performers, 11 All-MEC indoor performers, nine All-Southeastern Region indoor performers, and 10 All-Southeast Region outdoor performers.
 
Before his time at UNCP, Wisecarver was an assistant track & field coach at Brother Martin High School in New Orleans, Louisiana.
 
Wisecarver is originally from Monroe, Louisiana, and attended Ouachita Christian High School. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a focus in exercise science from Louisiana at Lafayette (2016), where he was a pole vaulter on the track and field team.
