LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI men's soccer team released its 2022 schedule on Thursday with 17 games slated for the fall season, including 10 home matches.
The Keydets open with a scrimmage at home on Patchin Field against Patrick Henry Community College on Thursday, August 18 and start the regular season August 25 at St. Peter's University (NJ) of recent NCAA Division I men's basketball fame.
VMI's first home game follows against Longwood University Wednesday, August 31 at 4 p.m. Gardner-Webb, Southern Virginia, Liberty, Robert Morris and Duquesne will all visit Lexington in non-conference play during the season. The Keydets will make trips to Presbyterian, Radford, Howard and Mary Baldwin.
The Southern Conference campaign will look different this year after the departure of Belmont University, which moves to the Missouri Valley Conference. The Keydets will play five conference games, at home against UNCG, Mercer and Wofford and at ETSU and Furman. The Southern Conference Tournament is slated to kick off in early November.
