Lacrosse Faces #11 Jacksonville at SoCon Tournament

LEXINGTON, Va. – Qualifying for its first ever Southern Conference Tournament, the VMI lacrosse team will face #11 ranked and No. 1 seed Jacksonville in a semifinal matchup Thursday at 5 p.m. at High Point University's Vert Stadium in High Point, North Carolina.

In the teams' first matchup on April 16 at home on Drill Field No. 2, the Keydets (4-10, 2-3) fell by a 25-6 score to then #8-ranked Jacksonville. SoCon Freshman of the Year Jackson Intrieri logged seven goals for the Dolphins while Max Waldbaum scored four. Same Chase, Tyler Corpora and Daniel May each tallied a pair of goals to help Jacksonville yield the SoCon victory that afternoon.

Josh Bass, Thomas Williamson, Jack Burke, Hartley Jordan and Mike Tulskie each scored for VMI in the loss.

Scout Ripley leads VMI with 40 points this season on 27 goals and 13 assists while freshman Luke Rusterucci is right behind with 38 points on 15 goals and team-high 23 assists this season. Junior Hartley Jordan ranks third with 35 points (24 g, 11 a) and senior Josh Bass also ranks among the offensive leaders with 25 points (16 g, 9 a).

Goalie Jack Liselli has played all but roughly 120 minutes of the season in the cage for the Keydets and owns a 13.31 goals-against average to go with 152 saves having faced over 500 shot attempts.
