Lacrosse Faces High Point on the Road Friday Night

LEXINGTON, Va. – Coming off a huge conference victory over Mercer last weekend, the VMI lacrosse team hits the road to face High Point University Friday night in a 7 p.m. contest at Vert Stadium in High Point, North Carolina.

The Keydets' win over the Bears Saturday marked VMI's first Southern Conference victory since rejoining the league before the 2015 season. The last conference win came in 2014 as a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference. It was also VMI's first win over Mercer since the 2012 campaign.
 
Josh Bass and AJ Stamos both logged four goals to lead the Keydets to victory while Michael Santos, Luke Mryncza, Hartley Jordan, Luke Rusterucci and Gabe Eichler each tallied one score.
 
Junior Scout Ripley leads the Keydets (3-7, 1-0) with 22 goals on the season as well as a team-high 31 points. Jordan and Rusterucci are close behind with 25 and 24 points, respectively, to lead the VMI attack.
 
Sophomore goalie Jack Liselli is coming off a career day against the Bears after registering a new career-high 19 saves to preserve the VMI win.
 
About the Panthers (5-5, 0-1)
Receiving votes in the latest USILA national poll, the Panthers are coming off a tough 14-13 loss to No. 12 Jacksonville in their SoCon opener last weekend in Jacksonville.  High Point has impressive wins this season over Colgate, Navy, Bellarmine and Robert Morris with close losses coming to nationally ranked opponents Maryland, Virginia, Duke, North Carolina and Jacksonville.
 
Fifth-year senior Asher Nolting leads the team with 59 points on the season on 22 goals and 37 assists. Brayden Mayea ranks second on the team with 37 points on 32 goals and five assists while Michael Ippolito and Jack Vanoverbeke both have 16 points for the year.
 
Parker Green has played all but 27 minutes in the cage this season as the starting goalkeeper and owns a 12.55 goals-against average to go with 106 saves after facing 383 shot attempts.
