Whittaker Earns 800m PR at Virginia Challenge

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Looking for continual improvement ahead of next weekend's SoCon Outdoor Championships, junior distance runner Trent Whittaker performed well in the 800 meter Saturday afternoon at the Virginia Challenge hosted by the University of Virginia.
 
The Rocky Mount, Virginia, native finished third overall with a time of 1:49.62, a new outdoor personal record for the event. With the time, he joins an elite SoCon outdoor group of sub-1:50 timers for the 800 meter.
 
VMI will compete at the 2022 SoCon Outdoor Track and Field Championships next weekend hosted by Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.
