Keydets Return Home to Face #8 Jacksonville

LEXINGTON, Va. – After facing High Point on the road last week, the VMI lacrosse team continues Southern Conference action this Saturday at home to face nationally ranked Jacksonville at noon on Drill Field No. 2.
 
The matchup is the first time the Keydets (3-8, 1-1) have faced a Top 10 opponent at home since taking on No. 8 Virginia in 2015.
 
Scout Ripley leads VMI with 31 points on 22 goals and nine assists while Hartley Jordan is close behind at 28 points on 19 goals and nine assists. Luke Rusterucci continues to lead the team on assists with 14 for the season, and senior Josh Bass is fourth on the team in points (18) on 12 goals and six assists.
 
Faceoff specialist Gabe Eichler owns the highest faceoff winning percentage on the team at .466 as he has won 48 of 103 attempts.
 
Senior Trejan Cannon has caused the most turnovers thus far with 17 for the year.
 
About the Dolphins (10-2, 2-0)
After a season-opening loss at #16 Johns Hopkins, the Dolphins have won 10 of 11 games including a 14-12 win over #2 Duke back on February 13. Jacksonville has wins this season over the likes of Marquette, #14 Denver, Air Force and St. John's. Their only other loss this season came at the hands of Utah, a 16-10 setback at home last month.
 
Jacksonville is off to a strong 2-0 start in Southern Conference action, including a 14-13 win over (RV) High Point and taking down #17 Richmond, 13-11, last week in Jacksonville.
 
Max Waldbaum leads the Dolphins with 53 points for the year on 36 goals and 17 assists, and Jacob Greiner is close behind with 50 points on 40 goals and 10 assists. Jackson Intrieri ranks third on the squad with 35 points on 12 goals and 23 assists as the key distributor.
 
Goalkeeper Luke Millican has started all 12 games with a team-high 545 minutes in the cage. Fellow goalies Jason Yoquinto and Ryan Della Rocco have seen significant time with 81 and 90 minutes, respectively, on the field. Millican owns a 9.57 goals-against average and 113 saves to his credit this season.
