Keydets Head to Cleveland for Non-Conference Matchup

LEXINGTON, Va. – Playing its final non-conference game of the season, the VMI lacrosse team travels to Cleveland, Ohio, to take on Cleveland State Saturday at noon at Krenzler Field.

VMI (2-6, 0-0) is coming off a tough 17-8 loss last Saturday at home at the hands of Bellarmine University, which scored 10 unanswered goals in the second half to come from behind to claim the win.
 
Scout Ripley leads VMI with 25 points on 21 goals and four assists while Hartley Jordan is close behind with 21 points (14 goals, 7 assists). Freshman Luke Rusterucci has proven his offensive abilities with 19 points between eight goals and 11 assists, and senior Josh Bass has logged 11 points on seven goals and four helpers.
 
Senior Trejan Cannon caused four turnovers last week and leads the team with 16 on the season, and freshman James Boynewicz has forced 12 turnovers.
 
Goalie Jack Liselli has played all but 80 minutes in the cage for VMI and owns an 11.75 goals-against average to go with 80 saves.
 
About the Vikings (2-5, 0-0 ASUN)
Cleveland State owns a similar record to the Keydets at 2-5 and is coming off a 19-6 victory at Hampton this past weekend. The Vikings have lost twice to another mutual opponent, St. Bonaventure, as Cleveland State took a 12-5 loss at the Bonnies' place on March 11 before falling again at home, 11-10, to the same squad two days later.
 
Ryan Haigh leads the team with 15 goals on the season while Gannon Matthews and Adam Clark are close behind with 11 and 9, respectively. Jason Sullivan is the key distributor with 12 assists on the year and Derek Radke is second with five.
 
Robbie Brazanskas leads the team in caused turnovers with six while Karson Burkey and Reggie Regala both have five.
 
Goalie Cameron Logan has played all but 36 minutes in the cage for the Vikings. He owns an 11.73 goals-against average to go with 85 saves for the year.
